AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — State officials again are considering pursuing deportation for foreign nationals serving time in Texas prisons for nonviolent crime, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Hollywood stars walked the red carpet in several premiers in downtown Austin for the South By Southwest Film Festival.

The three men accused of terrorizing and robbing a sales clerk at Discoteca 2000 in east Austin have now been arrested.

On Friday 20-year-old Markeih Thompson was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to murder. He was accused of killing Joseph Russo at the Longhorn Landing Apartments in East Austin last year.

The interactive portion of the South by Southwest Festival began on Friday with tech savvy professionals attending numerous panels and discussions. FOX 7’s Keri Bellacosa reports from downtown where the festival kicked off.

The annual Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo began on Friday. FOX 7’s Nancy Zambrano spent the afternoon at the fairgrounds taking in all the action and excitement.

The 3rd Court of Appeals has granted South Congress Cafe a reprieval of sorts in its long standing fight against the city over a patio deck.  The court sided with the cafe owners after it stated that a lower court didn't provide a proper hearing before siding with the city.

Austin Police have charged Carolina Juarez and Jesus Meza with theft after they say the pair stole a bicycle and tried to sell it on Craigslist. The robbery victim found the posting for his bike online and contacted police.

It's a crime with a teasing twist: police say three thieves danced away from an adult business with some hard cash -- and a stripper pole.
